Goodtimes Goodtimes is the solo project of Franc Cinelli from London. He crafts hearty folk tunes that can warm even the coldest toes (it was zero degrees here last week!). He draws his sound from the 70's coffee house scene in New York, but also has his own flare and style. He recently self-released his debut album Glue. Frenchkiss noise-mongers The Big Sleep are set to return with another slab of gargantuan post-rock on February 19th. The Brooklyn-based trio’s sophomore full length, Sleep Forever, is a proud continuation of the psychedelic meta-rock championed on 2006’s punisher, Son of the Tiger – an album whose bewitching songs drew comparisons to artists as disparate as Led Zeppelin, Sonic Youth, and My Bloody Valentine. Elements of all three juggernauts can be heard on Sleep Forever’s lead single, “Pinkies,” a soaring number that gets by on Danny Barria’s thick, snarling guitars and the propulsive rhythm section of bassist Sonya Balchandani and wildman drummer Gabe Rhodes. Back in July, this UK duo released their self-titled debut album filled with beats, rhymes and angelic harmonies. Now they are looking for creative musicians, DJ's, and artist to completely redesign their debut album. This competition is open to anyone and everyone who'd like to have a go at remixing one (or more) songs from The Politik's debut album. The winning remixes will be compiled into the official remix album The Politik Remixed to be released on both physical and digital formats. The second part of the competition is an artwork remix competition for the cover art of the official release. Download the original artwork by Joshua Mays and have a go at reworking it in the spirit of the Remix. All entries must be received by April 14, 2008. The Peel Back: Pixies Trompe le Monde (1991)I've always felt that this album has been overlooked when assessing the Pixies' catalog. It maybe they fact that I bought it $1 while digging through a bin of cassette tapes years ago, but I'm not sure. Honestly, this is my favorite Pixies album mainly for the song "Subbacultcha", but on their fourth studio album the band really solidified its place in music history. I can't really say that this album is better than Doolittle, but your first impression of a band is always the most lasting.

Wow, Goodtimes Goodtimes sounds like old Tom Petty stuff, very nice.
Trompe le Monde is my favourite Pixies album too - after the Surfer Rosa/Come On Pilgrim CD.
Actually the 001 kids aren't really looking for a label, per se. A lot of times we're just putting up stuff that's out of print and they don't want to bother keeping in print. Or some people put stuff up for free download in addition to, or as an alternative to releasing it on a label. Some of the collective artists actually run small record labels.
Just thought I'd try to give you a better idea of what we're doing,
