Born in 1978, she grew up in Kentucky and attended the California Institute where she received a BFA in experimental animation. She has created a handful of short films, and stop-motion projects, but her passion is painting. The creatures in her painting interact with the real world in a folkloric way. Her bio describes here work like this, "Her paintings mix the picture book-esque animals of childhood with scenes from the adult world. Folk creatures try to break the spell of day to day heartbreak. "
Her most recognized work to date can be found on the cover of the 2005, My Morning Jacket album Z.
Kathleen has a solo showing at the okok gallery in 4/07.
